$ionicPopup close undefined not working

.then should not be included for it will create a new promise without the close method.

from

var t = $ionicPopup.alert({
                        cssClass: type,
                        title: (context && context.title) ? context.title : 'Error',
                        template: message,
                        okType: type == 'error' ? 'button-assertive' : null
                    }).then(context && context.callback ? context.callback : null);
t.close();

to

var t = $ionicPopup.alert({
                        cssClass: type,
                        title: (context && context.title) ? context.title : 'Error',
                        template: message,
                        okType: type == 'error' ? 'button-assertive' : null
                    });
t.then(context && context.callback ? context.callback : null);
t.close();
